It was two years ago that I stumbled across a treasure trove of Urdu poetry. Before me lay strings of words, all shining like pearls on a necklace, arranged in the most beautiful way. I found myself thumbing through these poems, feeling them whisper across my fingers, leaving an imprint on my heart. Every day I would dig through the treasure trove to find a new wonder.
Of course that treasure trove was the internet, haha. But the words still felt precious.
Eventually it wasn't just enough to read the words in my head. I had to read them out loud. And I loved the action of reading so much, I decided to record the words for later. But it felt strange to hear only my voice in the silence, so I added instrumental sounds to my recordings and found listening to the poems later became more pleasing. I was hesitant to upload my recordings, because I am not a natural at reading Urdu. Though I can understand it, I found the poems in romanised English and read them that way. So I'm sorry if my pronunciation is off. I made this purely as a hobby. I'm not making any money. But still, I thought I would share my recordings with anyone else that loves poetry as much as I do.
